Just Like Old Times

A few weeks ago I got an e-mail from my old college roommate's, Stephanie, husband. He asked if he could fly her up from Texas to visit for the weekend for her birthday. Um....yea!!!!! So Stephanie arrived Friday morning and we spent the day at the Outlet mall shopping, talking, and waiting for Bella to catch up because heaven forbid she sit in her stroller! We had a quiet evening at the house because we had a full day planned for Saturday. We woke up the next morning and hit the road to head North of San Francisco to the redwood forest, Muir Woods. There wasn't a cloud in the sky and although it was a little chilly it was perfect hiking weather. We walked about an hour through the gorgeous forest and even got to see a banana slug which I have been on the lookout for since we moved here! There was a gorgeous creek running along the hiking trail so it was overall just very peaceful. The trees here weren't as big as the ones at Big Basin State Park where we had taken my mom and Grandmother when they had visited, but still awesome nonetheless.  On our way out of the woods there were signs for Muir Beach so we followed them to an amazing lookout point.  How awesome to be able to be in the forrest and along the coast all in one day!

In the car on our way to Muir Woods.  Someone already looks sleepy!
Redwoods are fire resistant and so fires just hollow the tree out without killing it.

Banana Slug!  Bet you can't guess how it gets it's name!
All that hiking wore munchkin out!
 The coast.

For lunch we headed to one of my family's favorite little towns, Saucelito. After a bite to eat it was on to Ghirardelli square in San Francisco. Stephanie had done most San Francisco attractions a few years ago and since David and I hadn't been to Ghirardelli Square we opted to go there. There were a bunch of cutesy little boutique stores and of course fabulous ice cream and free chocolate samples! To end a wonderful day, David babysat while Steph and I went and saw a movie. We saw "The King's Speech" and thought it was excellent.

Church Sunday morning, a quick visit to a coffee shop, and then we took Steph to the airport thus concluding our super fast weekend. It's so funny to me that Steph and I were potluck roommates our freshman year of college and yet she is truly one of my dearest friends....we can laugh, be ourselves, and ask/talk to each other about just about anything. Even Bella loved her....you know my Bella-she has aversions to all people not mommy but let Steph hold her and all.

Bella and I were sick the whole weekend but that didn't slow us down.  I know, sick AGAIN!!! That's what happens when your kid is in the nursery twice a week.  I just think of it as building a stellar immune system!
