California Girls Reunion

Oh how I miss my friends from California...we would see each other just about every day at the park and then have girl's night at least once a month.  I was beyond ecstatic when two of them (Gwenn & Heather) asked if they could come visit me (kid free) over a long weekend....um, yes please!!!

They wanted a full Texas experience so the first day I took them for pedicures (something we used to do a lot together in Cali) and lunch at a hole in the wall BBQ place...it sat a little heavy but they loved it!  The afternoon we spent in Salado, a cute little town with a winery and some fun little shops.  That night, Heather wanted to try her hand at catfishing so down to the lake we went! No luck.

The next day the girls wanted to go shoot guns...yes, shoot guns in 100+ degree heat.  We had a blast thanks to David being our private coach.  I only shot a handgun because shooting skeet feels like I am dislocating my shoulder (not good while preggers!).  Then off to Cracker Barrell for lunch, more shopping in Salado, and then the outlet malls until closing time.  We didn't eat dinner that night until 9:30 and got home at 1am!!!  LOVED EVERY MINUTE.  My pregnant feet were so tired after all that but it was so worth it.  I hated to see them go but am so grateful to have friends that you don't see for awhile but you can pick up where you left off.

No Air Conditioner for 19 days in TEXAS!!!

So along with the many blessings of being a homeowner come some headaches.  Our biggest so far is that our geothermal ("what's that?" you ask) air conditioning system decided to go out on us.  Since it is an uncommon type of system it had to be special ordered which took what seemed like an eternity.  So being pregnant and having a two year old certainly meant we were staying somewhere other than our blazing hot house.

The first week we spent at David's mom's house.  Bella and her cousin McKenzie get along great so this was actually a mini break from me having to play with her all the time.  They swam, dressed up like princesses, and stayed up way too late at night.

The next two weeks we spent in Conroe at my parent's house.  We went to the Houston aquarium and also spent a few days at Sea World which Bella LOVED!  She got to go to her first water park and went down a water slide all by herself....about 100 times!!!  Unfortunately at the tail end of our stay in Conroe Bella spiked 103-105 fever and was miserable.  Alas, we were finally able to come home a few days later.

The swimming pool at Grandma's was closed so we created our own!
