14 Months and On The Run!

My baby girl is walking!!  I really think we could have labeled her as a walker several weeks ago but she was just so insistent on holding on to one of mine or David's fingers and would not let go.  So as I learned from the 'getting rid of the bottles' experience, sometimes I just need to put my foot down and demand she does something.  As of yesterday when she would go to grab my hand I would say "Bella is a big girl and is going to walk by herself" and I would put my hands behind my back.  And just like with the bottles, WWIII ensued with throwing herself on the floor, kicking, screaming, the whole nine yards....where does this child get this drama???  But alas, today she has no interest in holding on and is making laps around the house!!! SUCCESS!!!  I love her little waddle and she is so proud of herself.  And I am so happy I am not having to kill my back guiding her everywhere anymore.

So that is the big news.  In other fun developmental stuff she is rapidly adding to her vocabulary.  And at times will just babble on and on like she is telling you the most amazing story complete with hand gestures and facial expressions! Her latest words are:
-up
-white (which was in honor of Snow White)
-light
-choo-choo (complete with pumping of the arm for the train whistle!)
-bye (we play this game where when I put her down for a nap I say 'night-night, love you' and she says 'bye' and then I say 'bye', then she says it back, and so on until I am out the door)
-knee
-ball
-key
-socks
-watch
-bow
-and although not a real word, she says 'bam' indisciminately for bread, banana, and balloon.  Too cute!
-Funny story: the other day she was practicing a new sound. She was going around saying "me-me-me". That evening I was cleaning up her tornado of a mess when David warned me, "Guess who's on her way over to you". And as if on cue, Bella boldly says "ME!!!". Of course she had no idea what she was saying but we were dying laughing!

To go along with her flair for drama she insists on a bow in her hair ALL THE TIME.  The first thing she says to me when I walk into her room in the morning/after a nap is "bow" and she is pointing to her head!  She also loves to wear her sunglasses, even in the house.  She also loves to dance.  If there is music she will bounce, flap her arms, and shake her head!  She also knows how to open the DVD player, put the DVD in, and close it after seeing me do it only once (and its not like we ever watch TV).  Since she learned to point to her heart when asked where Jesus lives and now also points to her heart when she sees a cross, I figured it wasn't too early to start teaching her some scriptures.  I have three simplified verses taped to the wall at her eye-level that she loves to go up and have me read.  She of course points to her heart for the "love the Lord with all your heart" and now put her hands together for "always pray".

She still does not go to anyone except David or myself which can be disappointing especially when we go visit people.  It's not even stranger anxiety because she sees the same people at the park everyday but won't let anyone hold her.  We still put her in the nursery on Sundays for church and when I go to bible study on Thursdays-she cries when we drop her off and when she sees us at pick-up but does descent in the interim.

Here are some of her latest antics:

Hmm, this is what happens when you let your child play in the cabinets.
And this is what Daddy does with Bella at the park...no wonder our hallway is full of sand!
Since getting back from our trip, Bella LOVES this teddy bear.
She also insists on kissing all teddy bears in her books!
This picture is not at all staged.  She asked for the two bows in her hair, the sunglasses, and can work a mouse like no ones business!
Library time.  She loves to look at books.
Her first lollipop!  Had to keep her quiet at the tax preparation place somehow and that was all they had!  I am proud to say I never give her sweets and so she took a few licks and handed it to me.

She keeps me on my toes and certainly makes me smile and laugh all day long.  I feel so incredibly blessed to be a stay-at-home mom and see her grow.  Although I need the break when she is down for a nap I find myself actually missing her.  Let the good times roll.
