It amazes me how fast kids learn things. It also reminds me to watch what I say and do because Bella imitates everything. Whether it is things I say or my daily activities she is a little mimic. I have overheard her saying 'ah, man!' and she will even have a gibberish conversation while pretending to talk on the phone and at the end says, "OK, bye". She also pretend plays a lot-any object can magically become a phone, or a hair brush. She also loves to put all her animals 'night-night' and feeds them all with the appropriate 'mum, mum, mum' sound to go along as if they are eating!
She has her repertoire of favorite songs and when asked will tell me the wheels on the bus go round and round, the wipers go swish, the horn goes beep, babies go 'waa', people go up and down, and doors go open and closed. She can sing her alphabet from A to G and knows a few intermittent ones after that. She also loves the hokey pokey because she loves to turn around and scream "yea"!
David and Bella have been having 'dance parties' every night after dinner and so she is becoming quite the little dancing machine (she get it from her mama!). So everywhere we go if she hears music she stops and breaks it down-I mean bootie shaking, hand waving, spinning in circles, the whole 9 yards! One of David's coworkers teachers a Persian dance class to toddlers on the weekends so we took Bella and she loved it...she even got to dance with hats and was so proud of herself.
She is still super affectionate which just melts my heart. She loves to sit on my lap when we read books and gives the best hugs-both hands around the neck and squeezing tight. She will even grab your face and plant one right on you if you ask for a kiss.
I have begun reading the book Love & Logic to have a heads up on some discipline issues. So far it has worked like a charm. We have been able to cut down on how often we hear the word "no" come out of Bella's mouth just by giving her two choices to chose from on most issues throughout the day. Getting her shoes and jacket on is now a 2 minute ordeal instead of a 10 minute one :)
Happy 17 months baby girl!
